Morgan Parker, L.A.-based poet and author of There Are More Beautiful Things Than Beyonce, joins Marcus Wicker, Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Memphis and author of Silencer, for a reading and conversation.
Author of Silencer (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2017) and Maybe the Saddest Thing (HarperPerennial, 2012), which won the National Poetry Series and was a finalist for an NAACP Image Award, Marcus has received fellowships from Cave Canem, the Fine Arts Work Center, and the Poetry Foundation. Wicker is the poetry editor of Southern Indiana Review, and he teaches at the University of Memphis.
Author of There Are More Beautiful Things Than Beyoncé (Tin House Books 2017) and Other People’s Comfort Keeps Me Up At Night (Switchback Books 2015), Morgan's work has been published and anthologized in The New York Times, The Paris Review, Best American Poetry 2016, BuzzFeed, The Nation, and more. She lives in Los Angeles.
